Glow in the Dark Nails: How to Apply Glow Gel and Charge It

Glow gel looks like an everyday color in daylight and lights up after dark. The trick is thin coats, a glow top coat on top, and a little time under light to charge.

1. 1

   Prep the nail

   Push back the cuticle, buff the shine off, and wipe the nail clean. Dehydrate with pH Bond.

   TipA clean, dry nail plate is the foundation of every gel set, glow or not.

   Lay the base

   Brush on a thin coat of base coat, cap the free edge, and cure.

   TipCapping the edge helps the set resist chipping.

   Pick your glow shade

   Glow in the Dark Soak Off Gel comes in 36 shades. Each one is a daytime color that lights up after dark. The color chart lays all 36 out on one board.

   TipShake the bottle well before you open it.

   Paint thin coats and cure

   Glow gel applies and cures like your everyday soak off gel. Brush on a thin coat, cure it, then add a second thin coat and cure again. Thin coats cure more evenly than one thick coat.

   TipKeep gel off the skin and away from the cuticle line.

   Add the glow top coat

   Glow in the Dark Top Coat 01 and 02 are no wipe top gels that glow once charged. Use one as your final layer over a glow set, or over any gel color you want to give a glow.

   TipNo wipe means you cure and go. There is no sticky layer to clean off.

   Charge and show it off

   Glow gels absorb light, so give the nails time under a bright lamp or in daylight before the lights go down. Then turn the lights off and let your client see the glow. Finish with cuticle oil.

   TipCharge the nails again whenever the glow fades.
